Day 24 - Inner Harbor, Baltimore to New Jersey

We spent Sunday morning and afternoon enjoying the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore.  It is a great place that features lots of dining and shopping, a world class aquarium, paddle boats, street entertainers, and vintage sea vessels which are floating museums.

A sand sculpture contest had been held a day earlier.  Lots of unique designs.  We thought this one was neat -- a giant replica of Cal Ripken Jr.'s World Series Ring.

The sand ring was a nice lead in to our next stop -- a baseball game.  Orioles Park at Camden Yards was the first ballpark built in the current "throwback" series.  It is a pretty intimate venue for the number of seats that is has.  The designers hid most all of the current day features that would not have been available in an early 1900s stadium (escalators, elevators, etc.)  The ballpark in Bricktown holds a certain resemblance to Camden Yards.  The day was hot and we didn't catch any foul balls.  But, we did catch plenty of hot dogs!

Let's Go O's!

George Herman was a native Baltimorean.

After returning to the Swagger Wagon, we were on our way to New York City for a couple of days.  Along the way we went in search of some more family history.  This time is was the hospital I was born in and the home I lived in as an infant before we moved shortly to Maryland and then, permanently to Oklahoma.

Coincidentally, the Owners had a stork out for their newborn.

New York should be interesting.  The truckster was engulfed in six lanes of full traffic headed barrelling full speed toward the Big Apple.  We are staying just across the Hudson River in a room overlooking a lit up Manhattan.  Awesome sight.  Looking forward to the next couple of days.
