Day 8 - Eastbound and Down - Paducah, KY

After twice being called by the front desk asking for access for the cleaning staff, we finally got the family truckster on the move.  Our destination:  Paducah, Kentucky - in the western area of the state from which came Craig's Mom & Dad.  We thought it would be interesting for the kids to get a sense of "where they came from".  The last time we were there was five years ago -- having travelled back for a Tyner (Craig's Mom's side of the family and our son's namesake) family reunion.

Essentially, the travel was across the entire State of Missouri.  There were opportunities to stop at such places as the home Laura Ingalls Wilder of Little House on the Prairie fame.  Instead, we chose something a little more dear to the Fergusons:  food.   The ORIGINAL Lambert's Cafe awaited us in Sikeston.  For those of you who don't know, Lambert's is "The Home of the Throwed Roll" where a guy with a cart comes around and tosses you a roll from across the restaurant.  It's a blast that we highly recommend to anyone who has an opportunity to go there.  As for the Original's comparison to the one just south of Springfield, I am happy to report that it met our quality control tests.

Believe it or not, no videos the entire day.  We spent our time hunting license plates, trying to get a fix on the World Cup, and reading.

One of the neat things about driving to Paducah is that you get to drive across the Mississippi River into the southernmost tip of Illinois.  So, add "The Land of Lincoln" in addition to "The Bluegrass State" to our list.
